  • Centennial Visionary Inducted into Raleigh Hall of Fame

Claude McKinney, the former dean of NC State's College of Design and one of the principal drivers behind Centennial Campus, has been inducted into the Raleigh Hall of Fame.

McKinney was asked to spearhead the development of Centennial shortly after then-Chancellor Bruce Poulton and Governor Jim Hunt agreed to transfer the state property over to NC State in 1984. With his eye for detail and his passion for the project, McKinney brought the campus to prominence and fulfilled the potential that was built into the original Master Plan.

He was one of eight people to be honored, along with the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the Salvation Army of Wake County.
