  • Centennial Campus Holds Groundbreaking for new Hotel and Conference Center

Centennial Campus held a groundbreaking ceremony for one of its latest projects -- a Mariott Autograph Hotel and Conference Center. The 164-room complex (call the StateView), which also includes 90,000-square feet of meeting space, an outdoor pool and a restaurant and bar, will be located next to the Alumni Center on Main Campus Drive.

The hotel is a joint venture between Concord Eastridge Inc. of Arlington , Va. and Noble Investment Group of Atlanta, the same company that completed the Marriott Center Center in downtown Raleigh in 2008.

The hotel and conference center is just another addition to the campus, which has seen significant growth in the last five years. According to Mike Harwood, associate vice chancellor of the Centennial Campus Development Office, the amount of space developed on campus has grown 65 percent since 2010. That includes the newest office building, Alliance One, which is slated to open next month, and the award-winning James B. Hunt, Jr. Library.
