Global Change Games: Civilization VI: The Gathering Storm

December 3, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

It can be difficult to talk about climate change. Through the use of fictional scenarios, games help us explore and reflect on the challenging and sometimes frightening problems we face. In this series, we will livestream gameplay and discuss how climate change games help us understand and grapple with the diverse and interrelated problems resulting from rapid global change.
During this event, Shaun Bennett, a research librarian for business, education and data literacy, will play Civilization VI: The Gathering Storm and talk about how the game’s fictional scenarios can help players grapple with our real-life civilization’s existential challenge of climate change. This event will be streamed live from our Twitch page. You can watch via the livestream, and if you have a free Twitch account, ask questions and make comments in the live chat. Recordings of past streams are available on our YouTube.
